Summer is upon us and with that comes a different type of fishing. The air is hot and the water is heating up with it. During the summer months we start to turn our attention a little bit deeper, the near-shore wrecks and artificial reefs will hold alot of different species. Spanish Mackerel, Bonita, Barracuda, several different types of Sharks, Snappers, Cobia, and Grouper are just a few of the fish that we will be catching as long as the heat is with us. This is easy fishing with lots of activity, 100 fish a day is pretty common for this type of fishing.

We will still have plenty of Redfish, Snook, and Trout around in the shallows to catch, the tides will play a much larger role until the water begins to cool. If we have good moving water we will catch all you want. The Tarpon are another species that we will target alot during the hot months, the Tarpon will begin to move up into Tampa Bay and feed on all the baitfish that have gathered in the upper bay. This is a great opportunity to sigh-fish for the silver king, as we cast to rolling fish. This type of fishing will start at or just before daybreak and is usually done around noon or when ever the seabreeze kicks in and makes it to hard to see rollers.

So don’t let a little hot weather stop you from having a great fishing trip we have plenty of shade on the boat and plenty of waterside restruants to grab a cool beverage.
