Capt.
Greg DeVault is one of the few guides that was actually
born and raised in the same area that he now fishes. Capt.
Greg started fishing the West coast of Florida when he was 5 years
old and is a fourth generation fisherman. He learned all it's "ins
and outs" from his grandfather and father who both grew up fishing
these very same waters.
After high school Capt. Greg started wondering just how much fun it
would be to take people out fishing and show them our beautiful
waterfront. He is, to this day, still living out that dream.
As far as fishing accomplishments go, the captain has plenty of
them. He began fishing many of the local tournament and doing very
well in them, so he decided to take it to the next level. Today
there are three professional redfish tours that fish the entire gulf
coast from Texas to Florida and up the Atlantic coast to North
Carolina. With his father as his partner he has done very well. They
have had several top ten and top five finishes, and are the only
team in professional redfish history to win back to back
championships; in 2003 and 2004. Capt. Greg and his father also hold
a couple of tournament records; the largest single day weight in a
redfish tournament at 21.52 pounds and the largest tournament weight
at 40.62.
Capt. Greg has been featured on many television shows on ESPN,
FSN, and Versus networks. He is also the host for
Americana Outdoors when ever they do any saltwater shows on the gulf
coast.
All of the time spent on fishing so many different area has made the
Capt. Greg a very well rounded fishermen. He has taken what he has
learned in many other areas and applied it to the fish he chases in
his home waters, and it has given him the ability to work “outside
the box” and find fish when the going gets tough. Capt. Greg also
has worked hard to get only the best tools to work with. He is on
the prostaff of some of the industry leaders, like Ranger Boats,
Yamaha motors, Shimano rods and reels, Humminbird electronics, Minn-Kota
trolling motors, to name a few. These companies take feed back from
Capt. Greg and his clients to stay on top of the industry.
